The Vietnamese American astrophysicist and writer, Trinh Xuan Thuan

He studied Astrophysics in California and subsequently at Princeton University, where he got his PhD. A brilliant man, who stated the following: “When we disentangle the mysteries of the brain, at the same time we will discover how the universe was created. »

The Physicist, Mathematician and Philosopher: Henri Poincaré

He was appointed at the École Polythechnique on March 6th, 1883, position he would keep until his resignation in March 1897. Then he was designated to teach the course on « Physical and Experimental Mechanics » in March 16th, 1885; he left to accept the professorship of « Mathematical Physics and Calculation of Probabilities » in August 13th,  1886…

He was named President of the  French Mathematical Society in 1886.

He was designated Member of the Academy of Sciences 1887; he became member of the  Bureau des Longitudes in 1893 and he was appointed Chief Engineer of Mining. In November 1896, he was given the chair of « Mathematical Astronomy and Celestial Mechanics » at the Faculty of Sciences in Paris.  He became member of the  Society of Sciences of Nancy and associate member of the Stanislas Academy.

He was chosen again President of the  Mathematical Society in 1900.

He was the first rewarded in 1901 with the « Sylvester Medal of the Royal Society.”

He took the leadership of the French Society of Physics in 1902. In 1904 he was appointed Professor of General Astronomy pro bono (without payment) at the Ecole Polytechnique with the purpose of avoiding the elimination of the chair. From 1900 to 1908, he applied his studies to the wireless telegraphy and he, therefore, could establish the existence of the continuous wave regime...

Poincaré was selected in the French Academy in March 5, 1908, and he continued to participate in numerous congresses and conferences until the end of his life.
